Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous Oxide is commonly referred to as “laughing gas”. Nitrous oxide is a sweet smelling gas that a child can breathe through their nose to help them feel more relaxed during dental treatment. Nitrous oxide is considered a mild sedative and is very commonly used in pediatric dentistry. Laughing gas is only effective if the child is able to breathe through their nose. If you feel like your child may benefit from nitrous oxide during dental treatment, please discuss this with our dentists at your next visit.
Oral Sedation
Oral Sedation is not currently offered at Ann Arbor Pediatric Dentistry.
Intravenous (IV) Sedation
We are excited to be working with Pediatric Dental Anesthesia Associates (PDAA) in order to bring the option of IV sedation to Ann Arbor Pediatric Dentistry- Chelsea Location. PDAA provides in office IV sedation under the care of a medical anesthesiologist. The PDAA anesthesia team will monitor your child while they are safely put to sleep in order to complete dental treatment. IV sedation is a wonderful option for children that are not able to complete dental treatment in a traditional office setting due to extensive dental treatment needs or severe dental anxiety. If you have further questions about IV sedation, please ask one of our dentists at your next appointment. For more information about PDAA please visit https://pediatricsedation.com/
