FDA Wants To Ban Young Teens From Using Indoor Tanning Beds

The Food and Drug Administration is trying to ban young people (anyone under the age of 18) from using indoor tanning equipment in order to reduce incidents of skin cancer that have been widely linked to tanning devices.

The FDA also wants adult tanning bed users to sign consent forms acknowledging that they understand the health risks of these radiation-emitting devices.

“Restricting teens’ access to indoor tanning and educating all users about the dangers of tanning devices are critical steps to preventing skin cancer,” said Dr. Mark Lebwohl, president of the American Academy of Dermatology, in a printed statement.” Read more.
